In Portland I was hit by individualism. I experienced an intensity of music and in that a creativity that’s been absent from my life. Everyone has a thing and so many are full of passion. When I asked someone what they did, more often or not they’d launch into their blazing monologue about art, music, poetry, oil painting or poker. I spent the nine-hour crossing catching up on films, their common denominator being their focus on people’s devotion to art, imagination and music. I was struck by a personal creativity that made me question my inspiration and my voice. That’s why I want to share any of this at all. I want to write and share things and listen to the voice that says I’ve got something to say. The environment is important but other things are too, such as exploring your interests and inventiveness and the two are not…
