Venice – La Salute and Grand Canal

Venice is an enchanting city. Palaces, bridges and canals link the numerous islands of Venice to each other. This is a city of boats, lapping water and polished paving stones. A city to walk, wander and dream. A city of romance. Why not join me, Janet Simmonds, tour guide and travel writer in the city that has inspired and influenced me for more than thirty years.

2017 is a truly exceptional year to visit Venice. From now until November the Biennial is taking place, a two yearly modern art event. There’s also a Damien Hirst exhibition playfully called ‘Treasures from the wreck of the Unexpected’ to be enjoyed. All this in addition to the amazing architecture, history and atmosphere of La Serenissima. St Mark’s Square, Bell Tower, Rialto Bridge, Doges Palace and St Mark’s Basilica.

“We can’t thank you enough. A perfect blend of culture and leisure time. The food and guided tours were brilliant and we even had a gondola ride. The hotel was lovely and they upgraded us to a suite. What a fabulous holiday.”   MR & ER (April 2017)

  1. Hi, Janet

Congratulations on your excellent blog on Venice – I’m sorry we won’t be able to join you on that trip, but if it is only half as enjoyable as your other ones, the participants will have a fantastic time.

    Two short suggestions:
    1. It would be helpful if your site had a “search” facility
    2. Also, coud it be made easier for this Luddites like me who are not on Facebook or Twitter, to participate?!

    Keep up the fantastic work!
