Happy St Valentine’s Day - named after early Christian martyr killed on Via Flaminia, Rome. Story goes he was a priest + married young couples so that husbands wouldn’t have to join Roman army + fight. Thus keeping couples together - romance + history wp.me/p5eFNn-2iS
Marburg, Germany in the snow - thank you @lulusimmonds22 very atmospheric photos and glad to see Cinderella’s shoe has been replaced. About time. Good for the City of Marburg. This city was home to the Grimm Brothers (as in Grimm’s Fairy Tales) when they studied at the university here. The Grimm Brothers were students of language and folklore, they travelled from state to state in the 19th century, listening to and recording local tales of light and dark, kindness and evil, rich and poor. These stories created a foundation of fairytales that are engrained in our culture to this day.
